![]() | Christian Bannière – Grand Cru has been operating in Bouzy for over four generations. The vineyard of Bouzy, ranked ‘Grand Cru’ by the French Institution of the I.N.A.O., is about 380 ha. It is located in the very southern part of the ’Montagne de Rheims’ hill ; a supremely ideal spot for growing vines and for making outstanding Champagnes.
At the beginning, the main activity of the house was the labour of the land and the growing of the vines. The first ever officially recorded harvest by the C.I.V.C. body dates back to 1923, whereas the first bottled sold was in late 1948 under the responsibility of Mr Jacques Bannière. At the present time, Christian Bannière’s vineyard spreads over 4ha 21a essentially located in Bouzy – Grand Cru. The different blends which we create are exclusively made at the elderly established familly syndicate, CV Defynlieu - est. 1929, where all current members must respect a strict set of rules which had been edicted at the the dawn of the last century by the founding members. Since 1978, Christian Bannière considerably turned around the house’s spirit and made it more aspirationnal ; the vision he wants to inspire is driven by an exclusive, qualitative and determined approach. |
